ROTK DVD Review

The Return of the King DVD was of course released in Australia today; I've just finished watching it myself. However if you haven't managed to pick your copy up yet, you may want to check out this review at BBC Films, or this one at Empire Movies to read about the special features on the disc.

ROTK has just been released on DVD, but we still have another six months to wait for the Extended Edition (which is what we really want to see). You can however pre-order it now at Amazon.com. Click to Pre-order The Return of the King EE.
Weekend Box Office

Troy finished it's second week in Australia still in the top spot at the Box Office, whilst it slipped down to second place this week in the US, with the release of Shrek. The UK had its nation-wide release last week, where it also opened in the top spot.

Troy Tops Weekend Box Office

Although it didn't go and set any records with it's release, Troy still topped this weekend's Box Office, grossing $45.6 million in the US.

Keith Richards Joins Pirates 2

According to Comingsoon, Johnny Depp's wish has come true, with Keith Richards to play Captain Jack Sparrow's father in Pirates 2. In other Pirates news, both sequels will be released in 2006, six months apart: "...production would begin shortly on Pirates of the Caribbean 2 & 3 and they would be released six months apart in 2006..." They also report that interestingly enough, Johnny Depp is yet to be signed for the third movie... but considering his importance in the first movie and attention he received, it should only be a matter of time. I love Orlando, he’s such a really good guy. I felt close to him because in a way we have a similar starting out thing going... I was a little intimidated – not intimidated, but worried that because I only had five or six films that I wasn’t as strong a performer, just because I didn’t have the experience of the rest of the cast. He’s the same and he’s very young and new at this, and we felt like we were in the same boat so we tried to help each other out..." Read more...

Keith Richards to Appear in Pirates 2?

According to Moviehole, Johnny Depp wants the Rolling Stones rocker - after whom he modelled Captain Jack Sparrow - to appear in the sequel to Pirates of the Caribbean. "Johnny was slightly embarrassed by all the praise for Pirates because he was really just being Keith. A good way of thanking Keith would be to get him to do a walk-on in the sequel." Read more.
